My History
This is who I am
I am a Marine Vietnam Veteran, a pilot and an avid golfer playing on the U. S Am Tour. I am a family man with a wonderful wife, son and Marine daughter, who is also a Marine 1st Lieutenant, stationed in Hawaii. I take their safety seriously.
I have been Instructing firearms and self-defense for over 50 years. It is therefore my job and my passion to ensure that those who come to me for training are confident and capable of defending and protecting themself, their loved ones and other innocent people around them.
When I returned from Vietnam in 1969, I became a handgun and rifle proficiency instructor at Camp Pendleton, California. When I was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1975, I decided to continue instructing handgun, handgun safety and self-defense tactics. I got my first concealed handgun license in Florida in 1981 and instructed there until moving to Texas.
When Texas introduced Concealed handgun licenses in 1993, I got my Concealed Handgun License. I also got my NRA certification as a Basic Handgun Instructor. Then, Texas decided to require (then Concealed Handgun License) applicants go through an 8-hour class to qualify for the concealed handgun license. I then went through the Department Of Public Safety License to Carry Instructor's course, which was a 5-day course, at DPS Training Facility, and received my License to Carry Instructor certification. I have been teaching CHL (now License to Carry) since then.
A year ago, I decided to also open a Private Security Training School. I then became a State Private Security Level II, Level III (armed), and Level IV (Personal Protection Officer) classroom and firearms Instructor and certification officer, now contracted with numerous Private Security Companies, to train their security guards. Although I am retired, I continue to train people who choose to carry a firearm for personal protection, because I am passionate about helping and making sure that when individuals carry a firearm for personal protection, they never become the victim.
Although Texas is a "permit less" (not constitutional, there are still State rules, laws and Penal Codes) carry State, meaning that there still ARE places that you are not allowed to carry a handgun without a valid license. So that being said, I still, always, recommend that people get their License to Carry in order to understand Texas laws, where you can and where you can't carry, handgun safety and self-defense tactics. Another benefit of possessing a License to Carry is that there are 39 other states that are reciprocal with Texas and recognize carrying a firearm with the Texas License to Carry in their state and with a License to Carry, you can purchase a handgun and walk out with it immediately without waiting on a background check. When carrying in a reciprocal state, however, you must do your research and be knowledgeable of their handgun carry laws. Private Security Level II, Level III, Level IV (Personal Protection Officer) and OC (Pepper) Spray Training
I offer Private Security Level II, Level III, Level IV classroom and firearms training, certification and recertification Instructions. I also offer OC Spray (Pepper Spray) certification classes (Texas now requires that all Private Security guards, who carry OC Spray, have an OC Spray certification. Level III (armed) Security Officers and Level IV Personal Protection Officers must attend a recurring recertification class and firearms requalification every year.
